March News

Happy Spring Everyone!

It’s that time of year again when the bulbs are poking their pretty little green shoots out of the ground indicating the last vestiges of winter and the onset of our spring season. I love this time of year where planning is king for all of us.

We are lucky to be a nursery in the Williamette Valley of Oregon where winter temperatures stay moderate, where we are blessed with wildly nutrient rich soils and a location central to everything wonderful in the Pacific Northwest.

Adam and I have been in Arizona since early November but it’s time to follow the birds and head back north. I expect we will ship our first trucks the end of next week and then go steadily all the way through June or July. If you have not scheduled your order to ship, or placed your order yet, please give me a call so we will start the process and get you in the queue. We need about 10 days advanced notice to pull your orders together and be ready when the semis start rolling to the dock. Any b&b plants will be freshly dug so that extra time allows us to dig and bring them out of the field.

The attached March list has quite a few NEW ITEMS and SIZES added, so take a close look and let me know what I can add to your order/s. The comments in the right hand column indicate available quantities, sizes and any conditions to consider. A lot of customers say this has been very helpful. If you have any questions, just give me a call or send a message and I will get right back to you.

As we all know, inventory changes all the time so ordering early is imperative. For example, if you want any Skimmia Male or Female, please order them NOW because they are very difficult to find and they are limited. Rhododendrons are also in short supply, so first come first serve as they are selling out quickly.

As I mentioned in my past 2 emails, Otto Luyken Laurels are in short supply this year but we still have some really nice 24/30” and 30/36” b&b. These will be freshly dug per order so this is another plant that needs to be ordered right away, don’t wait and miss out.

We still have a healthy supply of Skip Laurel which are both container grown or from the field and sold b&b. All the Skips look fantastic! We also have “Skinny Skip” which is a great NEW variety that only gets about 3’ wide, this new variety is the perfect plant for anyone who needs a privacy hedge.

We have a very large assortment of beautiful plants that are ready for immediate sales. Again, just let me know what I can do for you.

Wishing everyone a successful and fun spring. Let’s also remember “it’s the early bird that gets the worm!”
